Give me 59 sec & I’ll boost your storytelling by 128%

July 17, 2025

If you just give me 59 seconds, I’ll improve your storytelling skills by 128%.

Now, most stories suck because people summarize:

“I had this problem, it was tough, and then I solved it.”

But great stories — they don’t do this. They zoom into one specific moment.

An Example from Tom Cruise

This is how Tom Cruise does it:

“Girl was there, and everyone was looking at their phones. And she just… I just saw her. I looked over, my head’s kind of down, I got my baseball cap, and she’s just staring at me like this. And she looked at me, and she just looked around the subway like this, and then looked back to me like… and I was like… and I went…”

Three Tools for Better Storytelling

There are three simple tools you can use to zoom into the moment: ATD — Actions, Thoughts, and Dialogue.

Actions — What were you doing?

“I stood in front of the bedroom, taking a deep breath.”

Thoughts — What were you thinking?

“I thought, no one’s going to want to work with me now.”

Dialogue — What were the exact words?

“He looked at me and said, ‘Philip, I’m done.'”

Final Thoughts

Hey, today we talked about those three simple tools you can use to become this magnetic storyteller. But here’s the thing—practicing daily is one part of it. The other part is actually knowing what really matters in storytelling.
